Ceilings
can be dangerous places for Fire Alarm Heat Detectors.
Anything from basketballs to broom handles can threaten the safety
and proper operation of a detector.
THERMOFLEX offers a choice of protective guards that can be
installed on existing or newly-installed units in areas such as gymnasiums
and janitors closets. THERMOFLEX
also provides an aesthetic solution to small errors made during
installation that may require an attractive “cover up” without
affecting the rating or proper operation of the unit.
Part
# 150 Large Wire Guard
This strong, welded
guard protects the entire detector and mounts directly onto the ceiling
surface. Sections of the base
can be cut out to accommodate conduit connected to the electrical box when
the unit is surface mounted. The
# 150 is ideal for use in
gymnasiums and other sports facilities where there is a potential for
damage from flying objects. Auditorium
stages with storage spaces underneath, are also suitable locations for
this heavy duty guard. THERMOFLEX
provides an adapter for the Model
FD 200 Portable Test Unit
that allows for the proper testing of the rate-of-rise detector protected
by the guard.
Note:
For new installations, the Standard Heat Detector (See Spec. Sheet #1),
features a plastic guard that is suitable for these areas. The Model FD 200
Portable Test Unit will test rate-of–rise detectors protected by
this guard.
Part
# 172 &174 Trim Rings
Occasionally, a ceiling tile will be cut incorrectly, or an
electrical back box will not properly align with a ceiling opening.
THERMOFLEX offers two trim rings that will solve the problem and
maintain the aesthetics of the ceiling surface
Part
# 172 is an extended anodized aluminum trim ring, outside diameter
(OD) of 5 5/8 “ (14 cm.). This
ring extends the overall radius
by 5/8” (1.5 cm.).
Part
# 174 (shown
left), is a larger trim ring whose OD is 6.5” (16.5 cm.),
extending the overall radius by 1.0” (2.5 cm.).
The
original style detector with the aluminum adapter plate and the newer Standard Heat Detector can both be used with these
trim rings.
